Brick wall gets graffiti tag

On March 30 around 10 a.m., unit patrol officers spotted criminal damage near the 8000 block of Knox Avenue. According to the report, red spray paint was used to write “Money Side $” on a brick wall.

A business owner in the 8200 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that a blunt object was used to smash two windows on March 8. He estimated the damage at $300. 

Alleged threat from ex-lover

A woman contacted Skokie police about 3 p.m. March 30 regarding a threatening letter. According to the report, she suspects that her former lover, who was described as Don Martin of the 3800 block of Jerome Street, left the letter at her home to scare her. The letter stated that he wanted to kill the woman and her husband. Police are investigating.

ATM skimming

On March 30 around 8:30 p.m., a woman came into the Skokie police station to report an identity theft. She told police that $500 was withdrawn from her Chase bank account, even though her debit card wasn't stolen or missing. Police suspect the woman is the victim of ATM skimming. UPS package stolen

A UPS package from the Animal Rescue Program was stolen from a home in Skokie on March 30. The intended recipient said she saw the UPS driver drop off the package, but suddenly heard two male voices in her apartment vestibule. After the suspects left, she found that the package was missing. 

40-foot pipe stolen

A 40-foot galvanized pipe, valued at $1,000, was stolen from a construction site near Skokie Hospital on March 30 around 11 p.m.

DUI arrests

John Desyadrins, 60, of the 9700 block of Woods Drive, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 11 around midnight. According to the report, Desyadrins had bumped a vehicle as he was exiting the Edens Expressway near Old Orchard Mall. Police reported that he had a blood alcohol content level of .200. His court date is April 25.

Henok Tsegai, 23, of the 4200 block of Clarendon Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 24 around 1 a.m. According to the report, Tsegai was spotted speeding near Touhy and LeClaire avenues. Police reported that he had a blood alcohol content level of .175. His court date is April 25.

Jonathan Bradley 23, of the 8900 block of Lincolnwood Drive, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 26 around 11 p.m. According to the report, police responded to a dispatch about a reckless driver near the 5300 block of Conrad Avenue. When police stopped the vehicle, they detected the strong odor of alcohol on Bradley’s breath. Police reported that he had a blood alcohol content level of .143.
