Friday Blotter: Suspicious Incident at McCracken

Attempted burglary at Binny's

Police responded to a burglary at Binny's Beverage Depot, 5100 Demspter St., on Dec. 23. According to the report, the suspect(s) gained entry by breaking the front door lock, but were unsuccessful in disabling the alarm. No items were reported missing, but the damage done to the alarm unit was estimated to be around $250, police said.

Police responded to a suspicious incident at McCracken School, 8000 East Prairie Road, on Jan. 14. According to police, a man waved down two schoolgirls to come near him from his sedan. The children ran to the school after the person waved at them a second time, police  said.

The driver was described as a white male, in his 40s, bald, with black clothing and sunglasses, according to police. He was driving a silver Toyota Camry.

Burglary

Three cell phones with a combined value of $500 were reported stolen from a home in the 8500 block of Trumbull Avenue on Jan. 9.

Pot possession

A 24-year-old Morton Grove man was charged with possession of marijuana on Dec. 29. The suspect was stopped following a traffic violation in Skokie. He had a little over four grams of cannabis in his possession, according to the report.

Stolen parts

Several parts were reported stolen from a garage in the 5000 block of Louise Avenue on Jan. 14. 

Stolen wallet

A woman reported her wallet stolen after dinning at Wilde & Greene in Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 10.

Stolen phone

A Niles West teen reported his cell phone stolen on Jan. 10.

Missing wallet

A woman reported her wallet missing after shopping at a business in the 7500 block of Linder Avenue on Dec. 18.

A woman reported her wallet stolen after shopping at Macy’s in Old Orchard on Jan. 9.

Vehicle vandalism

A woman reported that an unknown person damaged her side view mirror of her vehicle parked in the 8600 block of East Prairie Road on Jan. 9.
