Deceptive practice

A man came into the Skokie police station to report a deceptive practice on Oct. 7. According to the report, an unknown person used unknown means to obtain his information and open an AT&T account. The total fraudulent charges were $2,264.21, the report stated.

Battery at restaurant

Police responded to a battery complaint at El Tipico, 3341 Dempster St., on Oct. 7. According to the report, police found a man who had just been struck in the back of the head with a blunt object and was lying on the floor. The report also noted that police believe the man was intoxicated.

The man refused to cooperate with police, the report stated. No arrests were made.

Threatening messages

Police responded to the 9100 block of Keating Avenue for a disorderly conduct complaint on Oct. 6. According to the report, a woman told police that she was receiving threatening messages from someone known to her. The messages stated that the person was going to use a gun to shoot and kill her. No arrests were made, but the case was referred to detectives.

DUI

James Foster, 43, of Elk Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 6. Foster refused to supply a breath sample, but failed a field sobriety test. He was stopped in the 5600 block of Oakton Street for swerving, the report stated.

Stolen wallet leads to fraud

A woman reported her wallet stolen after stopping by Marathon Gas Station, 3800 Oakton Street, on Oct. 6. The woman would later realize that more than $250 was charged to her credit card at a nearby CVS, the report stated.
