Friday Blotter: Man Fights off Robber

Man fights off robber

Police responded to a strong-armed robbery at 7-Eleven, 8700 Skokie Blvd., on Feb. 3. According to police, an unknown offender kicked a man leaving the store in the back. The offender then demanded the victim give him money, the report stated. However, the victim refused to give up his money and struck the offender.

The attacker would then flee the scene in a black vehicle. No arrests were made.

Home burglary

Several pieces of jewelry were reported missing from a home in the 7800 block of Karlov Avenue on Feb. 4. According to police, the offender(s) gained entry using brute force through a rear door.

Stolen salt

A 50-pound bag of salt was reported stolen from a condominium garage in the 7600 block of Lincoln Avenue on Jan. 28. The offender was identified as a resident who would later agree to pay for the salt, the report stated. No arrests were made.

Workplace theft

Police responded to the CTA train yard, 3701 Oakton St., regarding a theft on Jan. 30. According to the report, an unknown person(s) removed a set of speakers from an employee’s desk.

DUI

Evan Howes, 56, of Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash on Feb. 4. The report did not indicate where the accident occurred.
