Friday Blotter: Explosion Prank Halted

Vehicle vandalism

A car parked in the 4600 block of Main Street had its window shattered by a blunt object on Nov. 9. No items were reported missing.

DUI

William Ghiselli, 55, of Glenview, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana on Dec. 9. Ghiselli was stopped for speeding in the 3500 block of Main Street; he was going 55 mph in a 25 mph zone, the report stated.

Stolen phone

A man reported his Apple iPhone stolen while at the Skokie Courthouse on Dec. 9. The phone was valued at $650, the report stated.

DUI

Dana Roberts, 21, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Dec. 9. Roberts was stopped near the 3700 block of Howard Street for a traffic violation. She had a blood alcohol content level of .103, the report stated.

Explosion prank halted

Police responded to a suspicious incident outside the Jewel parking lot in the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard on Dec. 8. According to the report, a teen was going to make an explosion using a toilet bowl cleaner and aluminum foil as a prank.

It was later reveled that the teen placed bottles throughout the parking lot. The Cook County Sheriff Police Bomb Squad was dispatched to the scene and located one of the bottles.

The 17-year-old was charged with possession of an explosive device and given a court date of Jan. 22. The teen told officers he was just pulling a prank, the report said.
