Garage burglary

A garage in the 5100 block of Crain Street was burglarized on Oct. 7. According to the report, the suspect(s) took several Craftsman tools that had a combined value of $725.

A 28-year-old Skokie man was charged with a variety of offenses, including driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended license and fleeing the scene of an accident on Oct. 7.

According to police, the man was involved in a car accident near Skokie Boulevard and Oakton Street around 9 p.m. After the crash, he fled the scene and officers began chasing him on foot. Police soon caught up to he several blocks later. He allegedly told police that he had used cocaine and soon began throwing up. Police said he had a blood alcohol content level of .92. No parties were taken to the hospital.

DUI

A 18-year-old Evanston man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 8. According to the report, he was stopped for a traffic violation near the 8700 block of Niles Center Road. Police also found an open alcoholic beverage inside his vehicle. His blood alcohol content level was .082.

Theft at Macys

Police responded to a theft at in on Oct. 8. According to the report, police charged a 20-year-old Evanston man with retail theft.

He allegedly took two shirts with a combined value of $37.50 and attempted to leave the store without paying. His court date is Nov. 23.

Loose change stolen

A car parked in the 4400 block of Mulford Avenue was burglarized on Oct. 8. According to the report, the suspect(s) used unknown means to gain access inside the vehicle. Once inside, the culprit(s) looted about $15 in loose change.

Employee busted for retail theft

A 62-year-old Chicago woman was charged with retail theft on Oct. 8. She was an employee at Macys in Old Orchard Mall and was apprehended by store security for allegedly taking several pieces of children’s clothing with a combined value of $128.

Theft from motor vehicle

A car parked in the 5000 block of Dempster Street was burglarized on Oct. 9. According to the report, a laptop computer and GPS device were taken from the vehicle. The combined value of the said items is estimated to be around $1,400.
