Friday Blotter: Man Resists Arrest Following DUI

Resisting arrest

Samuel Pop, 27, of the 5000 block of Cuyler Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 15. Pop was stopped for speeding near the 7900 block of Skokie Boulevard. When officers approached him, Pop became hostile and would not comply with their instructions. He would later fail a field sobriety test and allegedly attempted to escape police while handcuffed.

Police determined that they were unable to process Pop in his current hostile-condtion so they placed him in a cell until he could calm down, according to the report. Pop then protested by urinating on the cell floor, according to the report. After several hours, Pop calmed down and admitted to police that he drank quite a bit of alcohol over a 30-minute period. His court date is Nov. 10.

Locker theft at Life Time

A man reported more than $500 missing from his locker after finishing his workout at , 5300 Old Orchard Road, on Oct. 14. According to the report, the victim left his locker key unattended for several minutes prior to the theft. The man told police he was surrounded by regulars and didn't feel the need to secure his locker.

DUI

Jerome Hall, 30, of the 2700 block of Potomac Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended license on Oct. 15. According to the police report, Hall was stopped for a traffic violation near Skokie Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue. Police found an open bottle of Olde English malt liquor inside Hall’s vehicle. He had a blood alcohol content level of .215.

DUI

Ridyan A Ayyad, 24, of the 9200 block of Osceola Avenue in Morton Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 16. According to the report, Ayyad was stopped for allegedly blowing a stop sign near the 5300 block of Harvard Terrace. He had a blood alcohol content level of .172.

Stolen fishing equipment

Police responded to a theft in the 9000 block of Bronx Avenue on Oct 14. According to the report, about $400 in fishing equipment was stolen from an unsecured basement.
