Friday Blotter: Missing Semi; Gold Plated Brass Knuckles

Semi still missing

Police responded to a call about a missing 2003 White Volvo truck on the 8200 block of Central Park on Aug. 5. The man filing the report said he knew who took the semi without his permission. The complainant told police that he had tried to contact the alleged suspect several times but he would not answer his calls. The semi has not been recovered, but it was last seen in Burr Ridge, Ill.

Bike, skateboard taken

Police responded to a call on the 8900 block of Lincolnwood in Skokie from a teenager claiming his Dyno GT Performer BMX and skateboard were stolen from his back yard. The bike was valued at $300 and the skateboard at $50.

Gold plated brass knuckles in car

Bahroze Hussain, 18, of the 8300 block of Laramie in Skokie, was arrested for having a pair of gold plated brass knuckles on Aug. 2. Officers pulled Hussain's vehicle over on the 3700 block of Dempster after they noticed a broken headlight. While speaking with Hussain, officers detected a strong odor of cannabis and searched the vehicle, finding the brass knuckles under a seat. Hussain was issued a citation for driving on a suspended license and possession of a deadly weapon.

Break-in tried at Apple Store

About 1:42 a.m. Aug. 6, officers responded to a burglar alarm at Westfield Old Orchard. Upon arrival, officers saw three bricks on the floor in front of Apple Store windows. Police suspected the failure of the windows to shatter foiled the attempted burglary.

Getaway in theft of jackets

Police responded to a call on Aug. 5 from Anthropologie Clothing Store in Westfield Old Orchard. An employee said she saw a white male, described as about 6 feet tall and about 250 pounds, grab six Cartonniers Jackets and run out of the store. The employee told police that the suspect entered a tan mini-van that headed south on Skokie Boulevard. The stolen clothing was valued at $1,608.

Marijuana arrest made

Gautam Roy, 21, of the 2500 block of Ridgeway in Evanston, was arrested for possession of cannabis on July 29 near McCormick and Dempster. Officers pulled Roy over for not wearing a seatbelt when they detected a strong odor of marijuana. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found 1.03 grams of cannabis in a napkin.
