Friday Blotter: Rare Car Stolen, Rash of Burglaries

Alleged wife beater arrested

Police charged Bavlai Buyandelger, 35, of Skokie, with domestic battery on Feb. 8 around 6:30 a.m. Buyandelger’s wife came into work with several visible bruises and other marks. She told her boss that her husband has been incredibly abusive as of late and was especially violent the night before.

According to the report, the woman's employer called police. Though the victim did not want to press charges against her husband, police told her that they had to arrest Buyandelger because her wounds were visible. His court date was on Feb. 14.

Theft from motor vehicle

A man came into the Skokie police station to report a theft from his vehicle on Feb. 11. According to the report, several personal documents, including his Ukrainian passport and W2 tax information, were stolen from his car parked in the 8700 block of Keeler Avenue.

Garage burglary

A bicycle valued at $275 and a Little Giant ladder valued at $400 were stolen from a garage in the 7700 block of Niles Center Road on Feb. 12 around 11 a.m. According to the report, police observed pry marks on the garage side door. Police are investigating.

Laptop stolen

A computer case and a Dell laptop were stolen outside a home in the 4200 block of Lee Street on Feb. 15 around 10 a.m. According to the police report, the victim left his bag against a snow bank to throw out the trash. When he returned, the items were missing. Police are investigating.

Hot import stolen

A 2000 Acura Integra Type R was stolen from a garage in the 5100 block of Fitch Street on Feb. 16 around 4 a.m. According to the report, entry was  gained into the locked garage by prying open the door. The victim said the vehicle was a rare model Integra in which only 1,074 were made and had an estimated value of $16,000.
