Friday Blotter: Retail Theft, Stolen Auto

Stolen iPhone

A man reported his iPhone stolen on Feb. 25. According to the report, the victim left his phone unattended inside a bathroom at Panera Bread in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard for 15 minutes.

A man reported his digital camera stolen while dinning at Dengeos, 3301 Main St., on Feb. 24.

Theft at Macy’s

Aurora Alvarez, 38, of the 2100 block of Lawler Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft on Feb. 24. Alvarez allegedly tried to steal more than $140 worth of clothing from Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall. However, she was stopped by store security and latter charged by Skokie police, the report said.

Vehicle vandalism

A car parked in the 9200 block of Lowell Avenue was reported vandalized on Feb. 23. According to the report, a glass bottle was used to smash out the driver’s side window.

Stolen auto

A car parked in the 4800 block of Dempster Street was reported stolen on Feb. 27 around 7 a.m. According to police, the man was warming up his car while it sat idle. The victim told police he believes his car is worth about $3,000, the report said.
