A gas station clerk in the 8000 block of Skokie Boulevard reported he saw a man pull out a semiautomatic pistol from his waistband and approach a vehicle with five occupants on Jan. 4. No shots were fired and police were unable to locate the suspect, the report stated.
Salvation Army vandalized
An unknown person shot several projectiles at several windows outside the Salvation Army, 4335 Oakton St., on Jan. 4. The estimated damage is around $1,000, the report stated.
$300 tea theft
Hassan Khan, 24, of Lincolnwood, was charged with retail theft after he tried stealing about $300 worth of tea accessories from Adagio Teas in Old Orchard Mall on Jan. 5, police said. The suspect was charged and banned from mall property, the report stated.
A 74-year-old Skokie man was fleeced out of $400 after receiving $2,271 check in the mail on Jan. 3. The letter instructed the man to purchase a MoneyPack for $400 and send it to a “Michael Lopez” so he could receive an $80,000 prize. The man sent the money but never received his $80,000 prize, the report stated. No arrests were made.
A woman told police that she was receiving threatening phone calls from her ex-boyfriends on Jan. 3.
A man was robbed of his cell phone and house keys by two people known to him on Jan. 3 in the 3400 block of Dempster Street.
