Friday Blotter: Sleeping With The Skunks

Sleeping with the skunks
Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 8600 block of Hamlin Avenue on July 17. According to the report, a man found a dead skunk in a plastic bag hanging on a plant holder next to his home’s entrance. At first, he thought nothing of it and called animal control.
Later that day, however, the man found another dead skunk in a plastic bag hanging in the same location. The man, baffled by the incident, told police he doesn’t know who would do this to him, the report stated.

DUI
Roderick Gapsin, 26, of the 8200 block of New England Avenue in Niles, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on July 12. Gapsin allegedly had a blood alcohol content level of .196, the report said. He was stopped for speeding in the 5700 block of Oakton Street.

Apartment burglary
Police responded to a burglary in the 8400 block of Monticello Avenue on July 9. According to the report, a pistol and pair of high heel shoes were reported missing.
Stolen auto
A car parked in the 7400 block of Channel Road was reported stolen on July 10.
