Missing garbage cans
A woman in the 3800 block of Louise Avenue reported her village garbage cans missing on May 5.
Stolen bike

A bicycle was reported stolen as it sat locked up outside AMC Showplace in Village Crossing on May 5. The bike was valued at around $150, the report said.
Alleged sock thief nabbed

James T. Mahoney, 25, of the 5800 block of Mulligan Street in Chicago, was charged with retail theft on May 6. According to the report, Mahoney allegedly selected several pair of Happy Socks valued at around $12 from Nordstrom in Old Orchard and tried to leave the store without paying. He was later stopped by store security and then charged by police.
Graffiti
The word “bi***” was written in black marker on the side of the building in the 4800 block of Wright Street on May 2.
Burglary
Police responded to a theft in the 8900 block of Bronx Avenue on May 4. According to the report, the victim told police that an unknown person removed $150 from his dresser drawer. No other items were reported missing.
Gas siphoned
Police responded to a suspicious circumstance complaint in the 8100 block of Ridgeway Avenue on May 4. According to the report, a man allegedly tried siphoning gas from the victim’s vehicle, but was unsuccessful because the owner of the car saw him committing the act, the report said. The suspect would later flee the scene. No charges were filed.
