Friday Blotter: Stroller Shoplifting, $8,500 in Jewelry Theft and more

DUI arrest

Kevin Wehrmeister, 24, of the 8200 block of Lawndale, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Aug. 11 at 11:15 p.m. Wehrmeister was pulled over for a traffic violation near the 8600 block of McCormick. Officers saw two opened cans of beer in his car and gave Wehrmeister a Breathalyzer test, which showed a blood alcohol content of .103.

Big-screen TV theft

Officer responded to a burglary on Aug. 19 at 1:07 p.m. on the 9200 block of Lowell. A man said he left his home on Aug. 18 and when he returned the next day, his 42-inch Samsung flat screen television was missing. No other items were taken.

A loss of more than $9,000

On Aug. 15 about 4 p.m., officers responded to a burglary on the 4000 block of Harvard. According to the police report, three pairs of gold earning valued at $8,200, $300 ring and $600 in  cash were taken from the master bedroom of the home. Police found an open window on the east side of the home in checking the property.

Missing vehicle recovered

A car was stolen from Sherman Dodge on the 7700 block of Skokie Boulevard on Aug. 6. The service department did not initially realize the vehicle was missing, thinking the vehicle was undergoing repairs, according to the police report. Several days later, Lincolnwood police contacted the dealership saying the vehicle was found with its windows and tires missing.

Stroller Covered Theft

Naim Odzic, 32, of the 3700 block of West Agatite, was arrested on Aug. 19 at Bloomingdales in Old Orchard Mall for misdemeanor retail theft. According to the police report, Odzic used a stroller to steal more than $830 worth of clothing. Her court date is Sept. 22.
