Friday Blotter: Teen Chases Kids With 'Gun'

Counterfeit cash

Police responded to a deceptive practice at Bloomingdale’s in Old Orchard Mall on July 26. According to the report, two suspects purchased $480 of merchandise using phony bills and would later return those same items at a different Bloomingdale’s location.

Slashed hose

A condo association member reported that someone cut the building’s hose on July 23. The woman told police she truly believes a condo occupant allegedly caused the damage, the report said.

Landlord dispute

A landlord came into the police station to file a complaint against his tenant on July 19. According to the report, his tenant has allegedly not paid rent since February. No arrests were made.

Grab and go

Police responded to Discount Center, 4616 Oakton St., regarding a theft on Aug. 1. According to the report, a woman selected a $30 bottle of vodka and ran out the store. No arrests were made.

Teen chases kids with gun

Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 9100 block of Lawler Avenue on Aug. 1. According to the report, a person called SPD to report that someone was chasing a group of children with a “gun.” When police caught up to the suspect, however, they realized it was in fact a BB gun. The children, however, told police they thought it “was a real gun.”

The teen was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to the station, the report said.
