Two Skokie hair salons have been robbed at gunpoint in two weeks, and police believe one man is responsible for both crimes, they announced today.
Officers responded to an armed robbery call at Supercuts, 3539 Dempster St., on Jan. 10 around 12:25 p.m. The suspect entered the hair salon, displayed a black revolver and demanded money, police said. The offender would soon flee in an unknown direction. It is unclear at this time how much money the man stole and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Police said the most recent hair salon employee identified the armed (pictured above). Authorities also believe the offender is responsible for similar robberies in Niles, Bensenville, Lombard, Glen Ellyn, Morton Grove and Chicago.
Police believe the culprit typically strikes early in the morning or late in the evening. In all cases, however, the offender chose a hair salon in a strip mall.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 6-feet-tall, 200 to 230-pounds and being anywhere from 35 to 45-years-of-age, police said. At this time, no further information is available. Once new details come in Skokie Patch will update.
