Update, Sunday afternoon:

The 30-year-old Evanston man who was shot and killed Saturday has been identified as Floyd Gibert, 30, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

A representative for the medical examiner's office said he lived in the 2000 block of Ashland Avenue in Evanston.

Original story:

A 30-year-old Evanston man was shot and killed in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue, Evanston, around 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, according to police.

Shortly after the shooting, a traffic crash took place at Green Bay Road and McCormick Boulevard, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jason Parrott said in a press release. He said police believe the accident was caused by a second person who was trying to take the man to the hospital.

The incident is currently under investigation, according to Parrott, and no more information was being released as of late Saturday night.

A spokesperson for the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that a 30-year-old man was shot but said the office was not releasing any other information at that time.
