Anthony Nugent, who was charged Thursday with bank robbery, a felony, was on probation for assaulting a 16-year-old girl who was walking down a Park Ridge sidewalk on an August afternoon last year.

The police reports from August 2012 say he approached the girl, asked her what kind of musical instrument she was carrying, then became aggressive as she refused to interact with him, threw her to the ground and began ripping her shorts and slapping her on the buttocks.

Nugent pleaded guilty to that offense when he appeared before Judge Garritt Howard at the Cook County courthouse in Skokie on May 22, 2013, said Steve Campbell of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Judge Howard sentenced him to 30 months probation and fined him $439.

Nugent was due to show up in court on July 12, 2013, but did not appear, which counted as a violation of his probation, Campbell said. His next court appearance had been scheduled for Sept. 13.
