Man Dies in Mid-Morning Shooting on McCormick

Man Convicted in Keg Murder Caught With Ammunition, Police Say

Antoine Hill, who was convicted in the 2005 murder of Robert Gresham at the Keg in Evanston, was recently charged with unlawful use of a weapon after a parole check at his Chicago residence.

The man convicted of a 2005 murder in Evanston, now out on parole, was arrested Friday when corrections officers found ammunition at his home, according to police.

Antoine Brian Hill, 27, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon at 9 a.m. Dec. 14, after parole officers discovered the ammunition at his Chicago home during a routine parole check, police said.

Hill had been released on parole Sept. 24 after serving six years of an 18-year prison sentence on charges of second-degree murder, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections. According to court documents, Hill shot and killed 22-year-old Evanston resident Robert Gresham after the two got into an argument at the Keg in fall 2005. Hill was 19 and an Evanston resident at the time.

Police have said that several recent shootings in Evanston may be part of an extended family feud that traces back to the murder of Gresham in 2005. According to Evanston Police Cmdr. Jason Parrott, the victims of four more shootings between 2010 and 2012 have family ties with either Gresham or Hill. Those victims include Justin Murray and Javar Bamberg, two Evanston men who were shot and killed within the last two weeks.

Unknown: You are right, they only found ammo rather than a gun, according to the article. And I am sure a condition of the parole, is to stay out of trouble. And now, he has been charged with a felony while on parole, so things aren't looking good. I think convicted murderers should complete their sentences, and not be eligible for the good behavior early release. It doesn't make sense. As far as what happened prior to the Keg incident, and during? Hindsight is 20/20. Perhaps if someone had called 911 when Antoine was shot at, while holding his baby, their would have been a very different outcome. And no one would have been murdered.

guess what? antione went down to the police station and nothing was done. he walked out with just a police report. but i do agree with you, had the police done something there could've been a different outcome.

@ unknown u mention your relative was fighting so why did he have to jump on top of a table in a crowded bar when he was only getting his ass beat no gun should have been in play, if you only fighting. To me that's intent to kill coming into a place with a GUN hmmm. Also since another member of the bamberg family has died is this Antoine guy trying to kill off the family? Was he even questions about these last to murders? cause it seems like when he got release violence started.

No matter whose at fault here, the situation at hand is dangerous and innocent people are and will be around when things get crazy. people can sit here and make excuses for all the crap going on with the people involved but whoever is making comments on behalf of said people should be talking to officers who want to help instead of keeping it to themselves and or saying it on these pages with comments! I have personally been affected by all this CRAP ! And guess what i am not related to any of these people or even know them! City officials are saying that these crimes will not affect the public but YES IT WILL!!!!!! if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, your screwed!!!!! All i know is this crap/ situations that are happening are giving me a rotten view of Evanston and the people that run it and the people who live here who are not raising their children with morals and concepts of life/ death !!!!!

Family members need to stop protecting their victimizing relatives! The bottom line is that someone was shot and killed and the killer only served 6 years and not life. Please show some empathy.
