Man Passes Out During Drug Charge Booking

Officers made arrest after he was spotted sitting suspiciously in a car outside of Walgreens.

On Aug. 5, police spotted a white Mercedes-Benz sitting in the parking lot of a  drugstore in Deerfield. When officers approached the car, they saw that three people were inside.

During questioning, police reported that passenger Bryan Kepley of Skokie was acting nervous and that his hands wouldn't stop shaking. Officers also smelled the strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the car.

When officers asked the driver if they could search the car, he agreed to their request. That's when police discovered a backpack in the front seat.

Inside the backpack, police reported finding 10.2 grams of marijuana, a smoking pipe and grinder. When asked who owned the bag, the driver pointed to Kepley.

As police approached Kepley to arrest him, he ducked and yelled, "Get your hands off me." Once in custody, the 25-year-old was taken to the Deerfield Police Department for booking.

During booking, police said Kepley passed out and an emergency rescue crew had to respond. Kepley regained consciousness and was taken to a Highland Park hospital for a check-up.

Kepley was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. His court date is scheduled for Aug. 24.
