Skokie police responded to a shots fired complaint at Golf Road and Skokie Boulevard on Friday at around 9:45 p.m.

A male subject suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital, said Skokie Police Chief Anthony Scarpelli. No one is in custody at this time, Scarpelli said.

Police from Skokie, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove and Wilmette, as well as the Cook County Sheriff's Department are on scene. The entire east side of the Nordstrom parking lot is sealed off with yellow caution tape.

Skokie police have also blocked off access heading west on Golf Road from Skokie Boulevard to Lavergne Avenue.

Many area residents were at an Old Orchard Mall parking lot, just across the street from Niles North High School, for a carnival. It is unclear, at this time, if that event is related to the shooting.

At this time, no further information is available. If new details come in, Skokie Patch will update.
