Monday Blotter: $15K in Tires, Rims Stolen

Theft from motor vehicle

A car parked in the 5500 block of Touhy Avenue was reported burglarized on Jan. 10. According to the report, $6,108 was stolen from inside vehicle. The woman told police she is unsure if she left the doors unlocked, the report said.

A car parked in the 5000 block of Conrad Avenue was reported burglarized on Jan. 24. According to the report, an unknown person used a sharp object to scratch the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Hanging purse results in stolen wallet

A woman dinning at Corner Bakery in Old Orchard Mall reported her wallet stolen on Jan. 24. According to the report, the victim’s purse was hanging on the back of her chair while dinning. She soon realized that $200 was charged to her credit card at a nearby Target. Police are advising woman to stop hanging their purses on the back of chairs.

Thief steals 31 tires

Police responded to a theft at Martin Nissan, 5240 Golf Road, regarding a theft on Dec 13. According to the report, an unknown suspect(s) entered the dealership and removed 31 spare tires from 31 vehicles by cutting the cable on the tire lift mechanism underneath each vehicle. The rims attached to the tires were also taken. The total loss on said items exceeded $15,000, the report said.
