Monday Blotter: $900 Hotel Bill Unpaid; Students' Cars Burglarized

Theft from motor vehicle

A car stereo was stolen from a car parked in the 9800 block of Wood Drive on April 5. According to the report, a detachable car radio was removed while the driver attended class at a nearby school.

In another similar incident, a car stereo was stolen from a 2000 Chevy Caviler while it was parked in the 9800 block of Woods Drive on April 6. According to the report, the driver was attending a class at a nearby college during incident.

A Saturn sedan was stolen while a woman dined at Noodles & Company in Old Orchard Mall on April 7 around 3 p.m. The driver told police that her vehicle was locked and that two pairs of jeans valued about $100 total were in the trunk. She also added that she didn’t notice anyone suspicious as she entered the restaurant. Police are investigating the matter.

Graffiti

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 7600 block of East Prairie Road on April 7 around 4:40 p.m. According to the report, four pitchforks were drawn on a garage door with gray spray paint. The homeowner told police that he had no idea why anyone would vandalize his property.

Ditching hotel tab

A woman staying at Hampton Inn, 5201 Old Orchard Rd., amassed a bill of more than $900 and left without paying in October. According to the report, the alleged suspect gave a credit card to hotel staff that was declined numerous times. When management informed her of the situation, she assured the hotel that she would pay the bill. However, hotel employees have been unsuccessful in collecting the debt and managed to get her license plate number before she left. Police are investigating the case. 

Car ransacked

A car parked in the 4700 block of Golf Road was ransacked on April 5. According to the report, the owner told police the vehicle was left in an unsecured garage and all of her personal belongings were find scattered inside the car. Nothing valuable was reported missing.
