Monday Blotter: Battered, Bilked Cabbie

Stolen auto

A car parked in the 3700 block of Enfield Avenue was reported stolen on Dec. 8. The car was valued at around $8,000, the report stated.

A 19-year-old teen was charged with possession of cannabis after taking a smoke break outside her work in Old Orchard Mall on Dec. 8. The teen was told she could not come back to the mall for one year, the report stated.

Battered, bilked cabbie

Police responded to a theft of services complaint in the 9300 block of Skokie Boulevard on Dec. 8. According to the report, the fare was $21 but a customer only paid him $12. When the driver approached his customers he was punched in the chest and told to “get out of here,” the report stated. The cab driver then left and reported the incident to police. No arrests were made.

Stolen wallet

A woman reported her wallet stolen while loading groceries into her vehicle in the 4800 block of Oakton Street on Dec. 7. According to the report, the woman left her purse on the seat of the shopping cart while putting bags into her backseat.

Identity theft

A woman came into the police station to report an identity theft on Dec. 7. According to the report, an unknown person opened a $20,000 line of credit using the victim’s information without her knowledge.
