Monday Blotter: Car Left in Road Leads to DUI

Theft

Charles Altmaier, 59, was charged with retail theft after he stole several sliced meats from Jewel, 9449 Skokie Blvd., on Oct. 6.

Man charged with DUI, left car in middle of road

Samuel Ortiz, 20, of Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 6. Police found Ortiz in his vehicle, which was parked in the middle of the road at 7840 Niles Avenue, around 4:25 a.m. His blood alcohol content level was .199, the report stated.

Shawn Spaulding, 43, of Chicago, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Oct. 5. Spaulding was stopped in the 3400 block of Dempster Street for driving without his headlights. He had about 8 grams of marijuana and a grinder in his possession, the report stated.

Theft from Nordstrom

Yisroel Nmi Brownstein, 32, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft after he stole a pair of North Face gloves from Nordstrom in Old Orchard Mall on Oct. 5, the report stated.

Stolen laptop

A laptop valued at $1,800 was reported stolen from a car parked outside the Skokie Swift parking lot on Oct. 5.
