'Butcher bandit' caught in garbage bin

New details have emerged about the alleged "butcher bandit." According to police reports, the suspect got into an altercation with his former girlfriend at the food court in Old Orchard Mall on Aug. 6. The suspect told police he never pulled out a butcher knife during the altercation and said he had brought it with him to fix his bicycle's crank. After the altercation, the suspect fled north to the 10000 block of Bronx. Detectives saw the lid of a large garbage slightly ajar and found the suspect hiding inside, according to a police official. He was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon and obstructing justice.

Auto theft investigated

On Aug. 8 at 6:48 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 9000 block of Niles Center to investigate a motor vehicle theft. The victim said he parked his '95 red Honda Civic the night before and that it was now gone.

Perfume theft sniffed out

Lishun Mosley, 43, of the 5300 block of Damen in Chicago, was arrested on Aug. 7 for stealing several bottles of perfume from Ulta, 5481 Touhy Ave. According to the report, employees noticed Mosley enter the store with an empty H&M bag and it got bulkier soon afterward. In checking the comestic store's security camera, the video revealed that Mosley had taken several bottles of perfume. Officers responded to the scene and arrested Mosley outside Ulta. Officers later discovered a white powdery substance that was identified as heroin. The items taken were valued at $417.07. Mosley was charged with felony retail theft, obstructing justice and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Shoplifting arrest of teen

Ryan Anthony Meister, 18, of the 7000 block of Rockwell in Chicago, was arrested for stealing a Playstation 3 controller valued at $44.99 from Best Buy near Old Orchard Mall on Aug. 8. Meister was arrested for misdemeanor retail theft and misdemeanor criminal damage.

Steal gas and go

On Aug. 6 about 11:00 a.m., a Mobil gas station cashier at 4002 Dempster called Skokie police to report that a man filled up his silver Honda coupe with $33.44 worth of gasoline and drive off.

Vandals egg home, car

On Aug. 7, a 53-year-old woman called Skokie police to report an egging on her house and Buick LeSabre on the 9400 block of LeClaire. The victim said four white females and two white males egged her property. She also told police the vandals  were laughing the entire time. No suspects were apprehended.

Brick throwers caught

On Aug. 5 at 2:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the 4400 block of Davis for a report of criminal damage. According to the report, two black juveniles, ages 9 and 10, threw a brick at the back window of a 2001 Ford Escape. The suspects fled north but were later apprehended near Kenneth and Davis. Police later found that the two boys also stole a bike from the vehicle's owner. The suspects were released to their mother at 4:40 p.m.

DUI of Chicago man

Gregorio Adam-Roman, 37, of the 1500 block of Jarvis in Chicago, was arrested on Aug. 9 for driving under the influence of alcohol. Roman was pulled over for driving in two lanes near the 7600 block of Lowell. Police reported he had a blood alcohol content of .206. Roman was cited for improper lane usage, no valid driver's license, no proof of insurance, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a revoked license.

Women in DUI arrest

Enkhtsetseg Buyandelger, 28, of the 2500 block of Victor in Glenview, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Aug. 7. Buyandelger had a blood alcohol content of .189 and was pulled over after a traffic violation. She was issued two citations: disobeying a traffic control signal and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
