Monday Blotter: Counterfeit Bill Discovered

Counterfeit bill

Police responded to AJ’s Food Mart in the 4600 block of Church Street regarding a counterfeit bill that was used to make a purchase. According to the report, the store clerk accepted a phony $20 bill from a customer. The bill was ultimately passed on to the Secret Service, the federal agency that investigates such matters.

Johnny P. Palmer Jr., 33, of the 4800 block of Grove Avenue, was charged with possession of marijuana on Aug. 3. Police found Palmer sleeping inside his vehicle at Walgreens in the 4100 block of Dempster Street. After running his plates, they realized he had a warrant out for his arrest by the Morton Grove Police Department. His court date is Aug. 12. 

DUI

Iancu S. Tomuta, 33, of the 8400 block of Trumbull Avenue, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while his license was revoked. According to the report, a witness saw Tomuta driving erratically on his way to Binny’s Beverage Depot in the 5100 block of Dempster Street. Tomuta failed a Breathalyzer test issued by police. His court date is Aug. 12.

Object hailing from apartment

Police responded to a criminal damage compliant in the 9000 block of Gross Point Road on Aug. 7. According to the report, objects were thrown out of a second floor window. One of the items struck a vehicle and damaged its glass. Police were unable to locate the culprit.
