Monday Blotter: Fireworks in Mailbox

Attempted burglary

Police responded to a burglary in the 4500 block of Keeney Avenue on Aug. 10. According to the report, a homeowner found pry marks on his front door and window. No items were reporting missing, though.

Police responded to a criminal damage complaint in the 9000 block of Lamon Avenue on Aug. 8. According to the report, an unknown person(s) used a sharp object to scratch the side of a vehicle.

Theft

A woman who works at the Lieberman Center, 9700 Gross Point Road, reported that an unknown person(s) broke into her desk and removed $340 from her drawer. No arrests were made.

Theft from auto

Police responded to a theft from auto in the 4200 block of Main Street on July 27. According to the report, a factory radio was removed from the vehicle.

Fireworks in mailbox

A man was awoken in the middle of the night after he heard mini explosions from his mailbox in the 4300 block of Emerson Street on Aug. 13. After investigating, he realized someone had placed fireworks in his mailbox. No arrests have been made.

Battery

Leslie Morataya, 39, of Chicago, was charged with battery after she allegedly struck her ex boyfriend’s girlfriend in the face just outside of Red Robin in Village Crossing on Aug. 12.

Theft

A woman reported that she was missing jewelry from her home in the 5200 block of Conrad Avenue on Aug. 12.
