Monday Blotter: Hole in Window Leads to Bullet

Bullet found in table flowerpot

A woman told police that she heard a loud noise as she watched TV in her living room on May 5 around 3 p.m.

The woman, who lives in the 8100 block of Keating Street, told police she investigated further and found a small hole in her shower curtain. When she looked behind it, she saw another hole in her window.

She told police that she saw a black male and a white male, both 15-18 years old, laughing outside. The suspects then entered a gray Toyota Corolla and drove off.

When police arrived and began investigating the scene, they discovered a bullet in a flowerpot in the middle of the kitchen table. They also discovered a shell casing near the vicinity where the alleged suspects were laughing.

The woman told police that she had no idea why anyone would want to harm her. Police are investigating the matter.

The white suspect was described as 5-foot-10, short black hair, average build and light completion. The black male was described as about 18 years old, 6 feet tall, around 150 pounds, with a ponytail and medium complexion. 

Theft from motor vehicle

A citizens' band (CB) radio was removed from an unlocked tractor in the 7400 block of Channel Drive on April 24. A GPS device was also stolen from a semi that was parked nearby.

Wallet picked at gas station

Police were dispatched to the Shell gasoline station at 9600 Crawford Ave. regarding a theft from a vehicle about 8 p.m. May 4. According to the report, a woman used her credit card to pay for fuel at the pump. She placed the wallet inside her car and went inside the store to get a receipt. Upon returning, she discovered her wallet and credit card missing.

A woman came into the Skokie police station to report a deceptive practice on May 3. According to the report, $480 was withdrawn in Moorpark, CA, from her Cole Taylor Bank account without authorization. The woman said she was in possession of her card the entire time.

Another woman came into the police station to report a deceptive practice on May 3. This time $402.95 was reportedly withdrawn from a personal checking account, even though she was in possession of her card the entire time.

A third victim reported to police a deceptive practice on May 3. The man told police that $303 was withdrawn from his account, even though he was in possession of his card the entire time.

A man reported that more than $700 was withdrawn from his personal checking account on May 4. The victim also said he was in possession of his card the entire time.

A woman came into the police station to report that her personal checking account to tapped for $500 without her authorization on May 4. She too was in possession of her card the entire time, according to the police report.

A woman visited the Skokie police station to report a deceptive practice in early May. She told police that $806 was withdrawn from her personal checking account without her authorization. She was in possession of her debit card the entire time when the transaction occurred.
