Monday Blotter: Hotel Burglary, Snowblower Stolen

Snowblower stolen

Police responded to a garage burglary in the 1000 block of Lavergne Avenue on Feb. 16 around 10 a.m. A snowblower was stolen and the victim’s vehicle was “rummaged through,” according to the report.

Shoplifter busted for theft, marijuana

Latisha Hood, 18, of the 2400 block of Fargo Street in Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia as well as retail theft on Feb. 16. Hood was spotted by Macy’s security after she selected 11 items and walked into the fitting room. When she left the booth, she was carrying no items and the clothing was not inside the fitting room.

When police arrived to check on the situation, they found less than a gram of marijuana in Hood's possession. The combined value of the items taken was $153.98. Her court hearing is scheduled for April 4.

Hotel burglary

Police responded to a burglary at Comfort Inn, 9333 Skokie Blvd., on Feb. 12 around 11 a.m. According to the report, a guest at the hotel woke up to notice that his bedroom door “slightly ajar.” He told police that his wallet, MacBook, iPhone, Amazon Kindle and North Face backpack were stolen. The combined value of items was put at more than $1,500. The report further noted that the door did not shut properly due to a “faulty mechanical issue.”
