Monday Blotter: Identity Theft, DUI

Big time credit card fraud

A woman reported that more than $3,800 was charged on her credit card at Nordstrom in Skokie without her knowledge on Dec. 18.

Stolen sprinkler caps

Police responded to a theft at the Senior Citizen Center in the 5100 block of Galitz Street on Jan. 7. According to the report, six water sprinkler caps/plugs were missing from the building.

Theft at Macy’s

Demone D. Hill 22, of Evanston, was charged with retail theft on Jan. 4 According to the report, Hill stole $122 worth of jeans from Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall. His court date is Jan. 4.

Theft at AT&T

A $450 smartphone was reported stolen from the AT&T store, 9725 Skokie Blvd., on Jan. 5.

Stolen vehicle recovered

Police recovered a stolen semi truck at a Jimmy Johns in Niles on Jan. 6. There were no arrests as the vehicle was simply parked outside the restaurant.

DUI

Jason Villafane, 28, of Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Jan. 6. Villafane was stopped in the 3800 block of Howard Street around 4:45 a.m. for a traffic violation. He had a blood alcohol content level of .232, the report stated.

Identity theft

A man came into the Skokie police station to report an identity theft on Jan. 7. According to the report, the man believes someone known to him opened an American Express account using his information. No arrests have been made.

Stolen GPS

A man reported a GPS device stolen from his car parked in Williamsburg Court on Jan. 7.
