Monday Blotter: Multiple Raincoats Stolen

Purse snatching

A woman reported that two black teens snatched her purse while she was sitting on her porch in the 9000 block of Bronx Avenue on March 11. According to the report, the two allegedly came up from the south end of the home, grabbed the purse and fled the scene. The purse and wallet had a combined value of around $500. There was also $450 in cash inside the purse, the report said.

Internal theft at Nordstrom

Jadranka Memic, 34, of the 9600 of Golf Road in Des Plaines, was charged with retail theft on March 11. Memic allegedly pocketed $40 during a transaction while working the register at Nordstrom Café in Old Orchard Mall. She was caught via video surveillance and would later confess to police that she took the money, the report said.

Police responded to a delayed burglary report at Able Supply in the 7300 block of Monticello Avenue on March 5. According to the report, an unknown person(s) used a rock to bust out the window to gain entry. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $500 from a safe inside the building, the report said. The owner told police that he believes a former employee is responsible for the crime.

Theft at Abercrombie & Fitch

Police responded to a theft at Abercrombie & Fitch in Old Orchard Mall on March 8. According to the report, two females allegedly grabbed five raincoats and fled the store. The combined value of said items is around $600, the report said.
