Monday Blotter: Alleged Prescription Theft

Grand Theft Auto

There were two locker thefts reported at LA Fitness on Feb. 10. In both instances, however, nothing of value was reported missing, according to the police reports.

Police responded to a retail theft at Seman Violins, 4447 Oatkon St., on Feb. 13 around 4 p.m. According to the report, an unknown person took a full size cello bow that was valued at $3,500 from a store display. The owner said he left the instrument on display, adding that both customers and employees had access to it.

Internal theft at drug store

Police were dispatched to Pharmore Drugs, 3531 Howard St., regarding an internal theft on Feb. 13. According to the report, a Pharmore employee came into the store wearing a tuxedo on his day off and allegedly entered the controlled substance cage. The subject then filled two empty bottles with pills and left the area, the report said.

A different employee who witnessed the event told police the suspect was not supposed to be in the drug cage on his day off, according to police. No charges have been filed, but the owner is seeking legal advice from his attorney.

Identity theft

A man came into the Skokie police station to report an identity theft on Feb. 6. According to the report, an unknown person opened a line with AT&T in New York under the victim’s name without his permission.
