Mother, Daughter Busted Shoplifting at Mall Store

Both charged with misdemeanor retail theft after Bloomingdale's incident.

Some may call it a case of bad parenting.

Karen S. Rapp, 39, and her 66-year-old mother, Rosemary, were both charged with misdemeanor retail theft on May 21. The duo worked together to try and steal everything from an iPod carrying case to Dior lipstick at Bloomingdale's in Old Orchard Mall.

According to police reports, Karen would take an item from a display rack and walk over to her mom, who would then open her purse for her daughter to place the item inside. All in all, the two were caught trying to steal a $40 iPod carrying case, a $70 Chantelle bra, a $28 bottle of Lalaque nail polish and a $20 tube of Dior lipstick.
