Newly Moved Skokie Resident Robbed, Hospitalized

A 54-year-old man who recently moved to Skokie was mugged and beaten for $250 on Friday. Police found the victim with his "lower teeth off center" and his face covered in blood.

A 54-year-old man who recently moved to Skokie was beaten and hospitalized after being robbed of $250 on April 20 around 11:30 p.m.   

The man was walking near Lamon and Louise avenues when two black men in their 20s asked him for a dollar. Before he could acknowledge them, he was sucker punched by the taller of the two suspects and fell to the ground, according to the police report.

When police arrived, they found the man “bleeding from his mouth and nose. [His] lower teeth were off center and the inside of his mouth was covered in blood,” the report said.

Dazed, the man got up and tried to walk to Oakton Street so he could call for help. Unfortunately, the victim had trouble dialing 911 because “he was dizzy and in pain,” according to the report. The victim was ultimately transported to Skokie Hospital. Hospital personnel told police that the man's jaw was broken as a result of the incident.

The suspects were described as two black men, both around 25-years-of-age. One had an average build while the other was about 6-foot-3 and about 220-lbs. Officers did a search for the alleged culprits but were unsuccessful.

The victim told police that he recently moved to Skokie a few months ago and currently resides with a friend. No further information is avaialble at this time.
