Observant Citizen Helps Nab Car Thieves

Officers responded to a report of four teens attempting to gain entry into unlocked vehicles in the 9300 block of Kenton Avenue on July 13 around 2 a.m. When police arrived they attempted to stop the juveniles, but the alleged suspects fled on foot, according to police. After a brief foot-chase, police were able to apprehend two of the four culprits.

One of the juvenile offenders dropped a sock that contained items that were recently stolen from a vehicle, according to police. The items included a GPS device, two cell phone chargers, an electric razor, a pocket tool and $2 in cash, police said. 

The two juvenile suspects were transported to Skokie Police Headquarters for further investigation. Skokie Police were alerted to the juveniles by an observant citizen who called the police about suspicious activity in their neighborhood. While the owners of the burglarized vehicles were given back thier belongings , but they both declined to press charges and no arrests were made, police said.
