Officers responded to the 4600 block of Main Street and apprehend Miguel Renteria without incident, police said.

Upon entering the home, officers located the 18-year old woman and her 2-year-old daughter unresponsive on the living room floor. The woman showed signs of asphyxiation and the girl showed signs of multiple stab wounds, police said.

The victims were immediately transported to St. Francis Hospital where they were pronounced dead around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said. An autopsy was performed by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office this morning, but details from that report have not been made available.

Miguel Renteria rented a room from the tenant in the apartment on 4651 Main St.

Skokie police said they encountered Miguel Renteria only once for a traffic citation. They also said they've had no contact with the victim, Cynthia Renteria, or her daughter prior to the murders.

No motive has been disclosed at this time.
