Hotel Scam, Burglary and More

Battery
A man was elbowed by an unknown offender while walking in the 3200 block of Oakton Street on April 27. No complaints were signed.
Aggravated assault

Police responded to an aggravated assault complaint after a parent said their son was going to cut them "to pieces" with a kitchen knife in the 7800 block of Niles Center Road on April 27. When the parent told the offender that he or she was going to call police, the suspect fled the area. No charges were filed.
Residential burglary

Officers responded to a residential burglary in the 7700 block of Lowell Avenue on April 26. The offender(s) gained entry by prying open a back door to the residence, police said. It is unknown what was stolen at this time.
Stolen auto
A sedan parked in the 8800 block of Central Park was reported stolen on April 26.
Disorderly conduct
Officers responded to a disorderly conduct complaint at the Children's Place in Old Orchard Mall on April 25. According to police, a former employee came into the store and made threats at a former coworker.
Stolen jacket
A man reported his jacket stolen while getting a hair cut at Betty and Nicks, 4119 Oakton St., on April 26. The victim's jacket was hanging on a coat rack.
Hotel scam
While staying at the Double Tree Hotel, 9599 Skokie Blvd., a woman received a call from someone posing as an employee at the front desk. According to police, the offender said he needed the woman's credit card information. The victim provided the information and would later find her bank account $5,000 short the next day.
Theft at Macy's
Rebeca Varga, 18, of Elgin, was charged with retail theft on April 25. The offender attempted to steal several pieces of clothing from Macy's in Old Orchard Mall, police said.

Theft at Sephora
Maria Brzezinska, 48, of Northbrook, was charged with retail theft on April 25. The offender attempted to steal several items from Sephora, 4999 Old Orchard Center, on April 25.
DUI
Bijan Ganjami, 24, of Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on April 25. The driver was stopped in the 9100 block of McCormick Boulevard around 1 a.m., police said.
