Scammer Poses as IRS Agent
The following arrest information was supplied by the Skokie Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Theft thwarted
Loss prevention at Marshall's, 9445 Skokie Blvd., told police they thwarted a theft after confronting two possible shoplifters. According to police, two customers entered the store and began dumping merchandise into an empty bag. When confronted, the duo dropped the clothing on the floor and fled the store.

A woman reported her wallet stolen while shopping at Barnes & Noble in Old Orchard Mall on April 16.

A man received a phone call stating that he owed more than $8,700 in taxes by a person claiming to be an IRS agent on April 20. The scammer went on to say that the victim would be deported if he did not pay, police said.
George Askew, 43, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon on April 19. Police found a set of brass knuckles in Askew's possession. He was arrested in the 5200 block of Old Orchard Road, police said.
DUI
Mirion Khikmatov, 24, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on April 21. The driver was stopped in the 8800 block of Lincolnwood Drive in Skokie, police said.
