Skokie Crime: Car Stolen, Home Break-In, Eggs Thrown

Burglars apparently used a pry tool to break into one home; no force was used to enter the other, police said. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.


 

Residential Burglary

  • Residential Burglary on the 9400 block of Lavergne Avenue, between 6:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. The unknown offender entered the residence through the front door. Once inside, 3 bags containing cell phones, USB drives, laptops, and keys to several cars were removed from the residence. No force was used on the door.
  • Residential Burglary on the 8000 block of Hamlin Avenue, between 8:00 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. The unknown offender used a pry tool to force open the front door. Once inside, several rooms were ransacked. A black Nikon camera and a red box containing jewelry were removed from the residence.
  • Residential Burglary on the 7700 block of Kildare Avenue, between 8:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. The unknown offender used a pry tool to force open the front door. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.

Criminal Damage To Property

  • Criminal Damage To Property on the 3300 block of Golf Road, between August 22nd at 6:30 p.m. and August23rd at 6:00 a.m. The unknown offender used a blunt object to smash the passenger side cargo door window on the blue, 2010, Ford Transit.

Motor Vehicle Theft

  • Motor Vehicle Theft on the 5200 block of Hoffman Street, between 6:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The unknown offender removed the black, 2002, Toyota Avalon from the street. It is unknown how the vehicle was removed from the location.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol on the 3700 block of Oakton Street at 12:02 a.m. Skokie Police Officers arrested the offender for driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop.

Retail Theft

  • Retail theft at Hollister, 4999 Old Orchard Center, between 7:30 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. The female offender entered the store and selected several clothing items. She then entered the fitting room and removed the sensor tags. As she attempted to leave the store, she was apprehended by store security.

 

Disorderly Conduct

  • Disorderly Conduct on the 7700 block of Kenneth Avenue, at 12:46 p.m. The unknown offender threw eggs at the victim's bay window.

 

Arrests

  • Horwich, Jeffrey, 424 Cedar Court North, Buffalo Grove, 56, arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, on the 3700 block of Oakton Street, on 08/24/13.
  • Martinez, Rebecca, Homeless, arrested on charges of Retail Theft at Hollister, 4999 Old Orchard Center, on 08/24/13.
