Tuesday Blotter: Old Orchard Shopping Spree

Deceptive practice

A woman came into the Skokie police station to report a deceptive practice on June 10. According to the report, an unknown person tried opening a credit card under the victim’s name.

Police responded to a theft at L.A. Fitness, 3220 Touhy Ave., on June 10. According to the report, an unknown person gained access into a locked locker and removed a Smartphone valued at around $350.

Police located graffiti during routine patrol at Devonshire Park on June 9.

Internal theft

An employee at Produce World, 9426 Skokie Blvd., reported that an unknown person stole his Prada sunglasses from the break area. The victim told police he suspects an employee who recently quit as the culprit.

Outrageous bill

A woman received a call from Nicor Gas informing her that she owed $2,226 in services on June 8. The woman told police that the address listed on the account wasn’t hers, the report said.

Shopping spree

A woman who lost several credit cards while dinning at Magginos in Old Orchard Mall reported that an unknown person was going on a shopping spree inside the mall shortly after realizing her cards were missing on June 7. Some of the stores the alleged suspect went to included the Apple Store, Nordstrom and Victoria Secret.
