Hanin Goma has been charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death for the accident that killed an 8-year-old boy.

A 23-year-old Skokie woman has been charged in the crash that killed an 8-year-old boy, according to a police statement released Wednesday.

Earlier, the Village of Skokie issued a press release Tuesday that the accident was caused by human error and that, "Village engineers will evaluate the intersection for any safety deficiencies that might have contributed to the crash."

According to Skokie Police Officer Joe Marzigliano, the charges against Goma do not contradict the Village's statement.

"The State's Attorney approves certain charges, and that will all come out in court," Marzigliano said. "Since we weren't at the scene it will depend on witnesses and evidence to determine what happened."

Meanwhile the victim, who was identified as Carter Vo, was out with his bicycle before being hit and killed as a result of the three car crash. He was pronounced dead at 8:18 p.m . Vo was a student at Madison School.

Goma faces a bond hearing Wednesday Morning.

Stay tuned to Skokie Patch for more on the story.

Most of you are idiots. Did you bother to read the words written in all the news stories??? The 1st major fact in this case is that the crash was not her fault. It was the other driver. He hit her and she hit the boy. And I am guessing all you people talking trash have never smoked pot or have had any traffic tickets. Please. She said she smoked at 10am. and the crash was after 4pm when she was on her way home from work. SHE WAS NOT HIGH AT THE TIME. This was a terrible accident but she is not to blame. If she never smoked pot in her entire life this would have happened the same. Bad case of wrong time and wrong place. And you bet I dont let me kids ride his bike on a main street unsupervised . And my kid always wears his helmet. The parents or grandparent should have made sure he was wearing a helmet. Maybe he would have survived.

The bottom line here is that Main street is a speedway .I live on main near keeler and my holuse has been hit twice .My tree has also been hit twice that I know of.I also saw a liitle girl get hit on her bike because a car rolled through a stop sign .If I had a dime for every car that runs the stop sign I would be rich!I work full time but its almost guaranteed that when I take a week off and don't leave town there is at least one accident for the week so just imagine how many occur when I'm not home!Iknow that when you cross over to Morton Grove everyone slows down for fear of receiving a ticket .Maybe some consistancy in ticket writing for speeding and failure to stop will make Main street in Skokie safer
