Student Victim of Strong Armed Robbery

Student robbed

A Niles West student was robbed after trying to sell his Apple iPhone to a peer on March 6.

According to police, the teen let numerous students at Niles West know he was selling his phone. One juvenile said he was interested in purchasing the smartphone and the two met in an alley in the 8000 block of Kilpatrick Avenue around 6:30 p.m. During the transaction, however, a second unknown offender approached the teen from behind and grabbed the phone. Both subjects would then flee the scene.

The case is currently under investigation, police said.

Student reports phone stolen

A student at Niles West High School reported her Apple iPhone stolen on March 5. The phone was left unattended at the school’s gym, police said.  The teen said she is unsure who might have taken her phone.

Purse taken from shopping cart

A woman reported her purse stolen while shopping at Jewel, 9449 Skokie Blvd., on March 5. The victim told police that she last saw her purse in her shopping cart.

Theft at Macy’s

Amit Kiern Grumet-Morris, 22, of Skokie, was charged with retail theft after he attempted to steal goods from Macy’s in Old Orchard Mall on March 6, police said.

Disorderly conduct

A woman reported that an unknown driver cut her off and threatened her afterward on March 6, police said. The offender fled the scene before officers arrived. It is unclear where the incident occurred.
