Theft 'Foiled' at Bloomingdales

Suspect almost got away with clever scheme.

Chavarrie L. Harvey, 27 of the 6200 block of Claremont Avenue in Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft on June 13 around 4 p.m. at Old Orchard Mall.

According to the report, Harvey allegedly selected two pairs of True Religion shorts, valued at $154 apiece, and entered the fitting room at the Bloomingdales store. After Harvey exited the room, security personnel checked it and noticed the two pair of shorts missing.

Harvey was apprehended by store security and the shorts were recovered from her. Security later found that aluminum foil had been placed over the anti-theft sensors to prevent them from triggering the entranceway's security alarm. Harvey's court date is June 27.
