Thief Enters Occupied Home, Snatches Keys, Steals 2 Cars, Police Say

Also, a car was stolen from a parking lot. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.



Burglary from Motor Vehicle

  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 9200 block of Springfield Avenue, on August 16th at 12:17 a.m. A male white between 16-20 years of age, with light brown hair and a white t-shirt was seen sitting inside the victim's Jeep.  The subject then ran northbound when the victim turned his porch light on.  Nothing is known to be missing.
  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 8200 block of Keystone Avenue, on August 16th at 1:19 a.m. A male white subject 5’9” – 5’10”, 140-150 lbs. with a thin build in his late teens, wearing a yellow polo shirt was seen entering an unlocked Volvo.  Various items were reported stolen from inside the vehicle.
  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on Williamsburg Road, between August 15th at 7:00 p.m. and August 16th at 5:12 a.m. An unknown person(s) entered an unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it.  Nothing is known to be missing.
  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on Williamsburg Road, between August 15th at 8:00 p.m. and August 16th at 5:12 a.m. An unknown person(s) entered an unlocked vehicle.  Nothing is known to be missing.
  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 8900 block of Samoset Trail, between August 15th at 10:40 p.m. and August 16th at 4:00 a.m. An unknown person(s) entered the vehicle.  Nothing is known to be missing.
  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 3800 block of Four Winds Way, between August 15th at 8:30 p.m. and August 16th at 6:00 a.m.  An unknown person(s) entered two unlocked vehicles parked on a driveway and ransacked them.  Nothing is known to be missing.
  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 9000 block of Sleeping Bear Road, on August 16th between 2:00 a.m. and 1:24 p.m. An unknown person(s) entered two unlocked vehicles and removed $25.00 in change from one vehicle and nothing from the other.
  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 9100 block of Sleeping Bear Road, between August 15th at 2:00 p.m. and August 16th at 11:00 a.m. An unknown person(s) entered the vehicle and rummaged through it.  $5.00 in change was reported stolen.

Motor Vehicle Theft

  • Motor Vehicle Theft at 7700 Austin Avenue, a business, between August 15th at 4:00 p.m. and August 16th at 12:00 a.m. An unknown person(s) stole a grey 1995 Dodge Intrepid from the parking lot.

Residential Burglary

  • Residential Burglary on the 8900 block of Pottawattami Drive, on August 16th between 12:01 a.m. and 1:52 a.m. An unknown person(s) entered through an unlocked front door while the family was at home and removed two sets of car keys then subsequently stole two vehicles, a 2008 Nissan and a 2012 Nissan.  Both vehicles were seen fleeing northbound on Pottawattami at a high rate of speed. 
  • Residential Burglary on the 5000 block of Mulford Street, on August 16th between 12:30 p.m. and 9:11 p.m. An unknown person(s) pried open the front door.  Once inside the person(s) ransacked the apartment.  Reported stolen was silverware and jewelry.

Criminal Defacement of Property

  • Criminal Defacement of Property on the 7600 block of Hamlin Avenue, on August 17th between 3:00 p.m. and 6:38 p.m. An unknown person(s) used silver spray paint to write illegible letters in the men’s bathroom.

Theft

  • Theft on the 8100 block of Hamlin Avenue, on August 17th between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. An unknown person(s) removed a package that was left for delivery on the front porch. 
Arrests

  • Kidd, Deqwan L.,19, of the 7700 block of North Paulina Avenue, Chicago, was arrested on charges of Resisting a Peace Officer and Obstructing Identification.
  • Minogue, Austin  F., 21, of Skokie, was arrested on charges of Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a FOID.
  • Brito-Solano, Fernando, 19, of the 3000 block of North Lotus, Chicago, arrested on charges of Driving while License is Suspended/Revoked, on August 16th on the 3200 block of Howard.
  • McGinnis, Joanne M. 48, of Glenview, arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, on August 17th on the 5600 block of Old Orchard Road.
