Thief Puts 'Bomb' On Store Counter During Robbery, Police Say

The man placed a bag on the counter and told an employee it was a bomb, police said. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

Mark A. Brown, 46, of the 8900 block of Lavergne Avenue, #2B, was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Bomb Threat.

On Jan. 1, Brown entered the Subway sandwich shop at 4925 Dempster and instructed the clerk to open the cash drawer, simulating that he had a weapon inside his jacket, according to the police report.

Brown grabbed $272.00 from the cash register, police said, then placed a bag on the counter and told the clerk it was a bomb.

Brown ran out of the shop, and police later arrested him at his residence. Police determined the bag did not contain a bomb.
