Bomb threat

Police responded to a bomb threat at North Shore University Health, 4901 Searle Parkway, on Oct. 26. According to the report, an employee found a note that read, “There are explosives located throughout Forest City that will go off today … You need to find and disarm.”

Internal security and local police were notfied, but no explosive devices were found.

The note was left in a secured area, where a keycard is mandatory to gain access inside the room. Police documented the incident and are currently investigating.

Deceptive phone call

A woman came into the Skokie police station to report an identity theft on Oct. 26. According to the report, the victim received a phone call from a salesman asking if she’d like to lower her credit. The woman then went on to give the unknown caller all of her information – including her Social Security number, credit card information and banking information.

A few days later, the victim received a letter from Visa stating she’d been approved for a new credit card, even though she never applied. The woman then notified police and placed a fraud alert on her credit report.

Account of a vicious ex-girlfriend

A man watching TV in his Skokie apartment was taken aback when he heard a loud thump coming from his front door on Oct. 27. When the victim went to investigate, he said he saw his ex girlfriend. The man’s former girlfriend then allegedly attacked the victim by grabbing his throat. The victim was able to get away and convinced his ex to leave. No charges were filed.
