Thursday Blotter: A Hanging Purse is Stolen, Again

Home burglary
A house in the 8300 block of Kilpatrick Avenue was burglarized on Nov. 14. According to the report, the suspect(s) used brute force to gain entry through the front door. Once inside, the culprit(s) stole a Sony Playstation, HDTV and a laptop computer.

A woman dining at reported her wallet stolen on Nov. 14. According to the report, the victim left her purse hanging on the back of her chair while eating. She soon realized that her wallet -- which was sticking out of her purse -- was missing, and that more than $600 was charged to her account at a nearby Walmart.
Theft from motor vehicle

A car parked in the 8600 block of Frontage Road was reported burglarized on Nov. 14. According to the report, a pair of glasses were taken from the vehicle.

A car parked outside of in Old Orchard Mall was burglarized on Nov. 14. According to the report, the suspect smashed out the driver’s side window to gain access inside the vehicle. A Dolce & Gabbana shopping bag that had no valuable items inside was reported missing.
DUI
Jose Cresencio Pena-Martinez, 28, of the 1600 block of Albion Street in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Nov. 7. According to the report, Martinez was stopped in the 3300 block of Main Street for driving on the wrong side of the street. He allegedly had a blood alcohol content level of .219. His court date is Nov. 16.
