Thursday Blotter: A Kick to the Groin

Gap theft

Cesar Osvaldo Fernadez, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft on Oct 30. Ferndez attempted to steal about $200 of jeans from the Gap in Old Orchard Mall, the report said.

DUI

Maritza Terry, 48, of Indiana, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 21. Terry was stopped near the intersection of Dempster Street and Niles Center Road for speeding. While she told police she had two “Mike’s Hard Lemonade” beverages, she had a blood alcohol content level of .130, the report stated. Her court date is Nov. 26.

Harassing messages

A woman came into the Skokie police station to report a disorderly conduct complaint on Oct. 30. According to the report, the woman was receiving harassing and inappropriate messages from a former boyfriend. No arrests were made.

Vehicle vandalism

A sharp object was used to scratch the exterior of a parked vehicle in the 5300 block of Touhy Avenue on Oct. 31.

Ouch

Antinio Vella Slagado, 35, of Chicago, was charged with battery after he kicked a coworker in the testicles on Oct. 31. Slagado kicked his coworker, who was sleeping on a couch, to wake him up. The victim was transported to Skokie Hospital to receive treatment.

$3K in Christmas ornaments stolen

Police responded to a delayed theft report at Old Orchard Mall’s Professional Building on Nov. 2. According to the report, a box containing $3,000 to $3,500 worth of Christmas ornaments was stolen.
