Thursday Blotter: Burglary, Stolen Auto

Stolen auto recovered

Police responded to a stolen auto complaint in the 7400 block of Channel Road on July 10. According to the report, a 1990 Nissan pickup truck was reported stolen. However, a nearby resident told police she recently saw the truck driving eastbound on Howard Street. After following the tip, police located the vehicle and returned it to the owner, the report said. No arrests were made.

Theft from auto

Police responded to an attempted theft from auto complaint at Bloomingdale’s in Old Orchard Mall on July 11. According to the report, a man was attempting to enter several parked cars in the area. The suspect gained access into an SUV and allegedly rummaged through the interior. No items were reported missing, however.

Electronics stolen in burglary

Police responded to a residential burglary in the 9600 Lowell Avenue on July 11. According to the report, a 42” HDTV, jewelry, laptop and two cameras were reported stolen.

Driving with Mary Jane

Ammanoel O. Shaltapour, 26, of the 9200 block of Cortland Avenue in Niles, was charged with possession of cannabis on July 11. Shaltapour was stopped in the 5300 block of Oakton Street for not wearing a seatbelt. Officer soon learned that Shaltapour had a warrant out for his arrest. During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly found more than 10 grams of marijuana, the report said. His court date is July 30.
